Monday weekend update

I am happy to report it was a fluke with the first serving of bananas. Sylvia LOVES them. She has been gobbling them up!

She had a lot of fun with her Daddy in Sturgeon this past Saturday. (without me,  boo...) She was able to spend some more time with Grandma and Grandad, and Allen was able to show her off to his Sturgeon friends.  While Sylvia and Allen were away, I of course had to work.  After work I ate dinner with my two of my best girlfriends. It was nice to have some girl talk time, but I sure did miss my man and my baby!

Please pray for Allen, his headache cycle is not relenting at all.  We are all losing sleep because of it and Allen is very tired when he goes to work. Hopefully this vicious round with his cluster headaches will end soon.

This kid is BANANAS!

Well, we tried bananas today. They didn't go over nearly as well as we expected. I think she liked the taste but not the texture. She kept spitting it out. We will keep trying them. Eventually she will grow accustomed to the new texture and will probably love them.

Too cute!

This picture cracks me up.   I can't believe so much personality can fit into such a small package!

Such a big girl!

So, today was Sylvia's first walk in the park sitting in the front of the stoller like a "big girl".  Granted I had to stuff blankets on either side of her, but it worked, and it made her happy.  Here's why we had to do this: The past two times we have walked in the park Sylvia has cried about ten minutes into the walk, cried so hard I took her out to see what was wrong with her and it was nothing.  She stopped crying the minute I pulled her out of the car seat.  Yesterday, I ended up just carrying her butt through the park instead of having her scream her head off through the whole walk.  Obviously, I can't continue to pack the kiddo around on my hip through the park.  I think she was bored with sitting in the car seat during our walks because she couldn't really see out out, just up.  Now sitting in the front of the stroller she can see out.

PASS THE PEAS PLEASE!

This is NOT cereal!
Mmm...peas!
Do I get to eat this good stuff every day?
Took this picture while she was being crazy eating her peas for dinner!
Ok, so I'm a few days behind on updating the blog.  We made a quick trip to Sturgeon on Friday which was a really great day.  Sylvia got visit her great-grandma, and Grandma and Grandad watched her while we went into Columbia to spend the $50 gift card to babies-R-us I was sent by my insurance company.  We spent a VERY long time in that store trying to figure out what to buy.  In the end though, we did a really good job, and walked out of the store with a V-tech electronic jungle toy, two cases of babyfood storage containers, a bead teether, and a really neat book about colors for only $.10 out of our own pocket.  Pretty sweet deal if you ask me!

Sunday was church, which we almost didn't make it to, Allen got hit by a bad headache Sunday morning. Then we had enchiladas at my Mom's house.  We didn't stay for long after we ate though, because Sylvia was TIRED! Then the most wonderful thing happened.  Sylvia went down for a nap at 3:30, Allen and I were so exhausted we laid down too, and the three of us took a two hour long nap! We woke up refreshed and ready to go to bible study.  (Which has been moved to Sunday nights so that Allen can go too.) She was a hoot a bible study because she had a nap and a full belly she was in a really good mood through the whole thing.

Today was Sylvia's first experience with peas.  The first picture is blurry because I laughed too hard when taking the picture...she was expecting the sweet cereal, and when it wasn't the cereal she was confused; but she quickly got over it and did enjoy her peas! We have to wait four days before we introduce a new food, but what will it be next? Applesauce? Bananas? Avacados? This is so exciting getting to watch our little try new things that we can't even remember being new to us.

Wednesday night church adventures

Tonight was an interesting outing with Michelle and Cohen.  Both of our hubbies were away at work, and our church was having a special prayer/praise night.  The two of us decided what the heck, we'll go together, us and our babies. Aren't we so brave? Well, the night started off funny when it took the two of us to get Sylvia's car seat secure in the backseat of her SUV.  Neither of the kiddos knew what was going on.  The looks on their faces was hilarious. Both of them looking at us like, "Geez...how many mommies does it take to put the car seat in?"  Then we went to Fazoli's to eat dinner and we both ended up eating pizza since it was the only thing the two of us could manage to eat while also taking care of our babies.  Then across the road we went to church, where both babies enjoyed the singing but when it came time for prayers the two of them were going to pray out loud, so we left early.  On the way back home both of the babies cried in the back of the seat, most of the way.  Cohen crying because he was hungry, Sylvia because she was tired.  Even though we both felt bad about our babies' discomfort, we had to laugh because sometimes you just have to laugh.  All in all a good night.  The picture above was not a good pic of Sylvia, but the little girl in the picture was really cute.  She loved Sylvia so much!

A walk in the park

Today was a beautiful day outside so Sylvia and I took a walk with Michelle and Cohen.  Sylvia decided that it's not enough to see the park from the stroller, she wanted me to carry her in the park.  If I keep that business up I'm bound to lose some weight somewhere!

Mmmmm!

Today was Sylvia's first bowl of rice cereal, and she LOVED it.  She took to it very naturally and by the end was swallowing most of the spoonfuls.  We did however, end up having to change clothes.  It was a pretty messy ordeal. She tried several times to take the spoon out of Allen's hand.  We will stick with the rice cereal exclusively for a week, but next Sunday we will try something more adventurous , like peas or bananas.

5 months!

Brand new baby!

Five months old!
I can't believe it was five months ago we welcomed this little girl into the world! It seems like it was just yesterday.  She's growing up so fast.  She is starting to get the hang of sitting up on her own.  Give us another week or two and I will be posting a picture of Miss Sylvia sitting on her own!

Overcome

Mmmm...toes!
Everyday I am amazed at this precious baby girl Allen and I are blessed enough to call our own.  She is so beautiful, so smart, so full of personality. Tonight while watching her sleep I cried, again, tears of joy at how wonderful she is.  I look back at this time last year, and we were just really settling into the idea that we were pregnant.  I remember the feelings of being so unsure what my growing belly would bring.  Now, I look at our little girl unsure of what is in her future, but knowing I want to give her the whole world.  Her smile fills my heart with unspeakable joy, the light in her eyes cannot be matched. I am so blessed by God with such an amazing family.  I have the best baby girl and the best husband in the world.  I want to do everything I can to make them happy.

Easter Weekend was Wonderful

Easter weekend was wonderful, celebrating our risen Savior, and spending time with all of our family. We spent Good Friday in Sturgeon and it was so great to see Sylvia having fun with her Grandma and Grandad and her aunts and uncles.  She also spent time with Great-grandma Pansy.  She was such a good baby! She was so sociable which is a change from just a few weeks ago.  She's growing up! She was very good on Sunday in church and at my mom's house.  She took an afternoon nap and behaved very well at Great-Grandma and Pop Pop Downing's house too!

She loves her new toys and book so much!

Today Sylvia was on a roll again, as usual, but she did something really funny.  She grabbed the blanket and pulled it over her face and just kept it there kicking her legs hegs and waving her arms.  Then I grabbed the camera and got down on the ground next to her and she just stared at me like, "What?" Then she gave me a big ornery smile, but I didn't get the smile in a picture, darn it! It was too stinkin cute. Maybe you had to be there. LOVE MY BABY!  :)

Wednesday Report

Actually, there really isn't much of anything to report today.  I just had to think of something to put as the title of this post.  Everyone is in good health.  Sylvia didn't do anything new today.  She is still sqawking and shrieking every chance she gets.  I think she just loves to hear her own voice.  We went to the park this evening with our normal crew of us , and Michelle and Cohen, plus one today.  My friend Jessica went with us.  It was good to get to visit with her and Sylvia liked her alot.

Pretty Suprise in the Park

Today, my friend Michelle and I walked for 90 minutes in the park with the kiddos in strollers. 300 calories blasted spending time with my baby and a good friend! Along the way we saw tons of tiny black squirrels, a woodpecker, and I spotted these beautiful bleeding hearts on the side of the road.  I had to take a picture.  They are so beautiful.

Sylvia loves it outside so much.  I'm hoping that more reasonable spring time temperatures return soon.  Today's temp weren't so bad, but yesterday it was just too hot to spend too much time outside. Sylvia gets hot so quickly.

Instead of sleeping

This is how I found Sylvia after putting her down for her nap in her crib.  I decided to check on her and she was laying sideways in the crib rolling all over the crib.  Goofy girl!

I have a migraine headache tonight, so I am turning in early. Love you all!

Cloth book = FUN FUN FUN!

We bought this cute little cloth book when Sylvia was only a few weeks old.  When we first showed it to her, she didn't pay any attention to it at all.  Now, a few months later we decided to try again today, and were met with great success.  She went CRAZY! She played with the book for a good half hour straight before she started to get restless with it.  She kept putting it over her face and then just layed there until I pulled it off. She loved it so much.
