Still sick, but a little better

Well, Sylvia's cough had disappeared by this morning.  I still called the dr's office and spoke to Dr. Bubolz nurse who said we could bring her in if we wanted but that it sounded like she has either a cold virus, or croup.  Both of which the dr can't do much for.  We are watching her for fever, which could mean infection, but today she actually seemed a little better than yesterday.  A little less snot, a few more smiles, and no coughing.  She still slept alot which is good, it will allow her little body to help kick this cold out the door.  It's very hard to see her in any kind of discomfort.  Allen and I both just want to take it all away for her.  She's a trooper though, still onery and cute.  She still wanted me to sing This Little Light of Mine to her and read her the itsy bitsy spider book over and over.

Sylvia Update

Well, poor baby girl is definitely not feeling any better today.  She slept all night last night and half the day today.  She's sneezing more snot than I think is natural for such a tiny nose and has developed a barking cough.  Needless to say , we are calling the doctor in the morning and hope to get to see him ASAP.

Summer cold, or another tooth?

Sylvia went to her first friend's birthday party Saturday afternoon.  Cohen celebrated his first birthday at our church in Quincy.  It was a beach themed party and Sylvia had a lot of fun.  Allen had a good time too.  I didn't get to go due to work.  Then when I got off work we ate dinner at our friends Jessica and Alex's house.  We didn't get to stay long because Sylvia was ready for bed. Then, at 2 a.m., Sylvia woke up with a running nose and small cough due to the drainage.  She and I slept in the recliner together until about 6 a.m.  Then Allen got up with her for an hour and half and she went to sleep in her crib until 10:00 a.m! We missed church.  She also took an extended nap only a few hours later and another long nap in the afternoon.  I guess there is a possibility that she could be cutting another tooth, but I think she has a summer cold. :( So, she missed out on  a bridal shower and another birthday party today. Hopefully she will be feeling better tomorrow.

Finger foods!

Sylvia is growing so quickly.  I'm afraid to blink, I might open my eyes to a stinkin teenager!  Life is definitely a lot busier since she has started crawling!

Yesterday we tried a new food, mozerella cheese! She loved it.  Tonight I set up a finger food buffet for her while I prepared some pureed food to feed her.  I gave her some shredded cheese, peas, and cheerios.  Most of it ended up in the high chair and her diaper, ; but it was good practice.  She had a plum for the first time tonight.  She also practiced with the spoon putting the food in her mouth after I put the food on the spoon.  She did a pretty good job, but ended up needing a bath immediately after dinner time.

We also had a play date today at my friend Michelle's house.  Now that Sylvia can crawl, and of course Cohen can crawl, it was more interesting and I think they both had fun!

CRAWLING

Yesterday Sylvia was still sort of testing her crawling skills out.  Today, she was cruising all over the house like she'd been crawling her whole life.  She's very proud of herself.  It was very difficult to snap a picture of her today because she was so much on the go!

Crawling...sort of

Well, Sylvia has started moving forward but is not full on crawling.  She can move about three knees forward.  This is just enough for her to get into whatever it is she wants to, and she's reaching up. So, baby proofing daily is now a chore.  She has been testing both of us when we say , "No." which means we have moved on from just caring for her daily needs and keeping her happy to having to be mean mommy and daddy teaching what she needs to know.  She has burst into tears the few times we have had to get serious with our no's. UGH! And we're just getting started !

She has decided this past week that she doesn't like carrots anymore.  We've been sneaking them into other foods.  Allen and I both tasted her carrots to make sure they weren't bad.  Nothing wrong with them, she just doesn't want them.

Blog Vacation Over

Well, Allen's week long vacation from last week is over, so I guess my blogging vacation should be over to eh? Not much to report.  We spent all of Allen's vacation inside escaping the horrible nasty record breaking heat that assaulted the midwest.  UGH! We watched alot of Netflix Star Trek Enterprise and ate alot of microwaveable food.  We did get out and about for the 4th of July.  Due to the excessive heat the annual big bbq at my mom and dad's was cancelled, however we did eat dinner at mom's.  Grandma Hazel rode with us too.  Sylvia had a lot fun with the American flag we let her hold for pictures.  She was wearing a dress that my mom saved for her.  It was a dress that I wore when I was a baby.  The chair she is sitting in was also a chair that I sat in as a little one. Pretty neat!

Sylvia now has two little teeth that have broken through that are so cute...and SHARP!  She is scooting around the living room backwards but still can't crawl forward.  This results in her getting stuck alot!
She can now sit herself up on her own! We had to drop the crib down because of this.  The next thing for sure will be pulling herself up.  She's already trying to do it now, but thankfully not successfully.  We've had to start buying things to baby proof, and let me tell you what, the manufacturers of the stuff we need really have our number! The stuffs not cheap!

Oh, and she's dancing to music! When the commercials come on with music she bops up and down with the music.  She LOVES music.  There have been a few times when I think she's even trying to sing along with me when I sing things like "Twinkle twinkle little start" and the ABC's to her.

Allen's new position in the tortilla room turns out to be a fairly decent job he says.  Not too hard, and not alot of "suits" running around as he puts it.  It's more laid back in the room he is in now vs the sauce room he was previously in.  This new schedule is one that is not ideal for my part time schedule at the library.  We're going to have to deal with it for hopefully only a couple more weeks.  Since this position has been forced on Allen he is still able to bid out into a different position when one becomes available.  Pray that one that fits our needed hours comes up soon!

I'm sure there's something else I should probably talk about , but it escapes me now.

Love you all!
