2 month check up: Long and Lanky Little Girl

Today we went to the doctor for Sylvia's 2 month check up and vaccinations.  The pictures above were before the shots! The doctor said that Sylvia is a long and lanky girl.  She has not gained as much weight as we had hoped. The doctor isn't too concerned , but he did say that she needs to eat more frequently during the nights. Not exactly what two sleep deprived parents want to hear. Over all though a good check up.  We are to go back in one month for a quick weight check to be sure she has gained some more weight.  We asked if we should be supplementing with formula and the doctor said no.  So, we will continue to breastfeed as we have been. I cried for Sylvia longer than she did over her getting her vaccinations.  It was painful for me to see the pain in her face at the needle prick.  I never thought I could feel this way.

Today was so warm , we took a trip outside again.  She really likes it! She was crying before we went outside and calmed down as soon as she realized where she was.

On to the biggest news of the day, Sylvia was asleep for night by 9:00 p.m.! No kidding! It's a miracle! Allen and I were able to get things ready for tomorrow, do some laundry, and dishes. We both feel very accomplished. Hopefully it wasn't a fluke and that she will go to bed at a decent time again tomorrow night.

Fun new things!

You're not gonna win with those cards, Daddy!

Yeah, right mom! I'm not going to go to bed soon!

I can see my feet easier in this swing.

The story of Daniel and the lions is very interesting!

I wonder if these bugs will help me take over the world?

This weekend Mommy went shopping for Sylvia! JC  Penney's was having a huge clearance sale and I had to restrain myself from bringing home a whole new wardrobe for Sylvia.  I did come home with a pair of white leggings, a long sleeved black shirt with hearts on it, a one piece outfit that is blue and pink, and the cutest little cordoroy purple dress.  The purple dress came with adorable striped tights. I can't wait to put her in it! I also bought her a baby bible story board book that has a cloth cover.  She loves it! Lastly, we discovered this week, that while Sylvia will not sleep in her crib, she does like to lay in her crib to play.  So, it was time to buy a mobile. We bought an adorable V-tech mobile with colorful little bugs.  She LOVED it.  She was crying when we first put her into the crib to look at it, and it took her a minute or two to look up at it, but once she did, she stopped crying and her frown turned into a smile.  We had game night at her Great Grandma and Pop Pop's house.  It was a lot of fun.  Today we went to church and Sylvia was great all the way through! Hope you enjoy the pictures from this weekend.  Tomorrow we go to the doctor for her 2 month check up and her first set of shots! Wish us luck!

Fun Friday!

Today was another super warm January day, so we went outside again.  This time Allen was able to go outside with us too! It was cute to watch Allen show Sylvia about the pine tree in our back yard. Then later today I pulled out her play mat and she spent about fifteen minutes happy has can be watching the toys sway back and forth.  Then I put the handle of the fish in her hand.  It was really neat to see her eyes light up when she pulled on it and it made music. Watching her learn something new just swells my heart up with happiness.

How warm?

So, I'm just wondering what else is in store for us this winter with 60 degree weather at the beginning of January? I will take the nice weather but hopefully it doesn't mean we are headed for really bad weather soon. Sylvia and I took advantage of the super nice weather today.  It tool us two tries because by the time we got dressed the first time and put the sunblock on , she was sooo over it and threw a fit.  We got undressed and happy again, when she was cooing and smiling again I redressed her and headed outside.  At first she started to fuss, but then it was like she finally opened her eyes and realized that EVERYTHING she was seeing was new to her.  She stayed really quiet listening to me talk and she spent her time carefully observing.  It was a lot for her.  We stayed oustide for about ten minutes and when we came back inside, she crashed.  In fact she is napping in my lap as I type this.  I can't wait for tomorrow it's supposed to be nice again and we might all go to the park together. (Depending on her mood of course.)

After the Holiday Rush...

Well, the holidays are over and we survived them! We had a wonderful Christmas with both sides of the family.  We are so blessed. We really enjoyed all of the food, games, gifts, and conversations.  The best part for me though was spending my first Christmas with my amazing husband and my precious daughter.  Getting to see the rest of the family enjoy seeing Sylvia was really special too.

Allen had to go back to work, and I return next Friday. (Yes, I have to go back on a Friday...) We do have a babysitter we are happy with figured out who happens to be our neighbor.  God was so good to us in 2011, I pray he continues to do so for our whole family in 2012, but also that he will give us the strength and courage to approach the challenges we are sure to have this year.

Sylvia is now REALLY using her voice for more than just crying.  She is putting more than one coo together at a time and is so cute when she gets to chattering.  She does most of her chattering on the changing table, which seems strange to us, but she has always enjoyed being on the changing table.
